At the Beach

Last weekend, Kristen I spent a lot of time at a beach in Bellevue, enjoying the last final day of summer (as it has rained for the last 4 days and will for the next 9 months). Here are some final shots of our final day of sunshine.

Kirkland Triathlon

Yesterday, Julie and I competed in the Kirkland Triathlon at Carillon Point.

The weather was gloomy and it had rained all day Saturday, making the course wet and cold. Luckily, the rain held and it was only dark and cloudy for the whole race.

Julie unfortunately got a flat tire during the bike and had to stop a couple of times to fix it. We both went slower on the course due to the wet asphalt (and my fear of riding in the rain).

In my division (women 20-24) I was ranked 17 out of 34.

My overall time: Ranking:
1:42:05 17
Swim:
0:14:25 130
Transition:
3:42
Bike:
0:49:35 590
Transition:
1:56
Run:
0:32:27 863

Pictures to come later.

End of the Season

As the summer is ending (Autumn officially starts on September 22nd) I have only a couple of events that I will be finishing with.

Sept 21: Kirkland Triathlon

Sept 28: Kirkland 5k

Oct 18: 10k Mud Run in San Diego

Here is a look back at what I have done this summer:

June 14: Flying Wheels (65 mile ride)

July 20: Seafair Triathlon

Aug 3: San Francisco Half Marathon

August 24: 1.5 mile Lake Swim

September 7: Iron Girl 10k

My first race ever was the Jingle Bell 5k run during Christmas. I remember this was very very hard for me to do, and I told Julie (who ran with me) that I did not want to walk at all. It was after this race that we decided to train for a half marathon. It is amazing that I am now able to easily run a 5k and more, but unfortunately I have to now deal with multiple injuries that have accrued due to running.

Overall: I like to run, not long distances. I love to bike and still love to swim.

Iron Girl 10k

On Sunday, Kristen and I ran the Seattle Iron Girl 10k. The loop was around Greenlake twice. The weather was perfect and although there was a lot of estrogen in the air, the run was a lot of fun.

Oh Gus

Hiking Mt. Si

On Labor Day we hiked Mt. Si. There was fog and sunshine, but the top was covered in fog so we were not able to see any view.

The climb is 4,167 feet (1,270 meters) and 4 miles from the parking lot to the summit plateau. Vertical elevation change is about 3700 feet and starts at about 700 feet.

It took us 2 hours to get to the top and then we ran all the way back down.
